I’ve been coughing for almost a month now since Frederick and I went for a few days of vacation in thePhilippines(he’s now back in Congo and I’m in Signapore, sad :-( ) He bought me a cough syrup (robitussin) but it’s not working, I’d probably go visit a GP doctor tonight or tomorrow.
Anyway, I made myself this tea concoction last night. When I’m a kid, my Lola Paring or my parents usually make Ginger tea (salabat) when somebody is coughing at home. I’ve also read that chamomile tea is an effective home-remedy for coughs. Lemon is too. I tried to mix all three and I think it worked. I had a good sleep last night as compared to the previous nights where my persistent coughing hinders my sleep. That’s why I have puffy eyes 🙁
This concoction is not only good for cough & flu, but also for sore throats, tonsillitis, digestion, and of course, it aids in weight loss 🙂
Lipton Chamomile tea– 1 teabag
Ginger roots, crushed and chopped – 1 thumbs size
Lemon juice from freshly squeezed half lemon fruit
Honey – 1 tsp
Water – 1 cup
1) Boil water and ginger roots for 5 minutes. Remove from fire.
2) Steep in it the chamomile tea bag for 5 minutes. Let cool.
3) Add the rest of the ingredients to the cooled green tea-ginger concoction
